this is my second wire ballun but this time i tried to make it by myself.First of all the frequency that i want to operate is for 11 meters, especially 28.850 mhz.i found a calculator online ant the halfwave length is 2.7 meters.but to be sure i cut the two pieces of wire 2.75m so later i could make the tuning.first of all the manual of the bu-50 ballun said that the distance between the ballun and the metal clamp has to be 7cm.and i did as it said.then i pulled the excess wire through the end insulators random, both ways of the wire the same.but as i told i did not measure the length.i make a transmit checking for swr and i saw nothing.what is happening?as a result of low power i could not see the swr?my power was 5 watts using my car battery.i tuned the dipole so good by luck?i do not think so..but nobody was talking.in other frequences such as 20 meters or 40 meters i could listen some stations but without signal only modulation, maybe the wire dipole is too short to have good reception?the height of the ballun was at about 3 meters and my feedline was 12 meters of rg58.what do you think?i dont know too much.also from 28.000-29.700 i didnt have swr,in other bands i had.also i could operate a local repeater at 11 meters listening very weak the reverse sound.i'm sorry for my english.this photo is today.yesterday i put the dipole normal with horizontal polarity.
